How to sow cavities in the grass? First of all, prepare fresh soil
after winter, it looks unsightly, usually because it has been attacked by pests or diseases caused by fungi. The problem most often occurs after intense, long-lasting snow, through which the grass is not airy. This results in infestation by snow mould, which is manifested by characteristic cavities. In addition, the grass is harmed by prowling voles that feed on plant roots and drill underground corridors. It turns out that the entrances to the tunnels can be simply covered with fresh soil and sown grass, which, thanks to regular watering, will sprout quickly and provide a beautiful appearance. The same can be done for yellow and bald patches.
- Sprinkle soil over the cavities and rake it.
- Prepare grooves or depressions to place the seeds.
- Cover the seeds with a thin layer of earth.
- Water moderately so as not to wash away the seeds. Do this every day for about 1.5-2 weeks.
- Once the grass sprouts, reduce watering and do it about 2-3 days a week.
When to fertilize your lawn? Do not delay, and the grass will grow lush and healthy
Grass typically has shallow roots and quickly absorbs nutrients from the topsoil. For this reason, it is worth fertilizing it 3 times a year so that it can maintain a healthy appearance and look great.
It is recommended that the first fertilization be carried out in early spring – in March or early April and just after the first mowing. However, it all depends on the weather. It turns out that it is not worth delaying fertilization, because the grass begins to grow relatively early. The second fertilization should be provided to the lawn in mid-June, and the third and last, maximum 2 months later. It is not advisable to fertilize the lawn in winter, because it is then at rest.
