Mishaps in “Titanic”. They didn’t notice that it couldn’t happen
On the screen there were references to real events that took place on board the Titanic that sank in 1912. The priest appearing in the film was modeled on the clergyman Thomas Byles, who was a great support for the passengers of the unfortunate voyage. The scene in which Jack walks past two men and a boy playing on board is also real – the creators tried to recreate a photo preserved from the crash here.
However, even in such a polished production as “Titanic” there were mistakes. One of them can be seen in the scene where Rose is floating on a fragment of the door frame (similar to the real Titanic). The heroine of the film looks sadly at the sky, which is also clearly visible to the viewers. After the premiere of the production, American astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson noticed a mistake in the scene.
In an e-mail to Cameron, the scientist pointed out that the arrangement of stars was different from what the passengers of the Titanic could actually see in 1912. The director took the comments to heart and asked Tyson for the correct map of the constellations, after which he made corrections. In 2012, a re-release of the film was released, featuring a new star system.
However, this is not the end of the mishaps of the creators of “Titanic”. In one of the scenes between Jack and Rose, the boy tells his beloved about his childhood. He recalls the days when he and his father were fishing on Lake Wissota in Wisconsin.
For the story to be true, Jack would have to have the ability to travel through time. The lake was created as a result of the construction of a dam, which was completed in 1917. The Titanic had sunk five years earlier.
