On the occasion of the Year of Wisława Szymborska, many events dedicated to her memory are planned. The most important will be the publishing of two volumes of the poet’s Poems by the Krakow publishing house Znak. Agora will also publish an enlarged edition of Souvenir Junk, as well as numerous concerts and exhibitions in Krakow. A park named after her will also be opened in the city of the Nobel Prize winner.
Wisława Szymborska as a LEGO figure
The celebration of the Year of Wisława Szymborska was also joined by a well-known clothing company, which is to prepare a commemorative collection and a special notebook with the artist’s poems, which were to be an inspiration for designers. However, the greatest interest was aroused by joining the action of the LEGO brand.
This is what the president of the Wisława Szymborska Foundation, Michał Rusinek, said about this collaboration in an interview with “” in February 2023:
Unfortunately, I can’t say much about the surprise Lego is planning. But I assure you, it’s going to be a big, really big and fun thing. In accordance with the requirements adopted by the Danish manufacturer, we will present it in public space so that everyone has a chance to take a closer look at it
Now we know that this is a unique figurine that was designed by Łukasz Więcek, a former participant of the “Lego Masters” program. One cannot disagree with Michał Rusinek that it really is a “big and funny thing”.
In the photographs, we see a smiling figure of an elderly woman who poses in a majestic manner against the background of bookshelves made of several dozen LEGO blocks. This is an incredible gesture on the part of the brand, which will certainly allow younger recipients to get to know the figure of the poet. Now we just have to wait until, according to Marcin Rusinek’s statement, the figurine will be made available for viewing in a public place.
Help Ukraine, join the collection. You will pay the money on the website.
