In November 2021, Adam Konkol, the founder of the Łzy group and the main composer of the formation, published a new version of the band’s great hit – “Agnieszka 2.0”. The composition quickly became the subject of another argument between the musicians.
“Agnieszka 2.0” must disappear from the network. The Conflict of Tears continues
It turned out that the artists from the second composition of Łez were not delighted with the appearance of Adam Konkol’s new song online. The composer was to receive a letter from which it follows that “on the basis of co-ownership of the song ‘Agnieszka'” he should remove “Agnieszka 2.0” from YouTube and Spotify. The composition is too similar to the original.
Adam Konkol claims that he was treated extremely unfairly because he is the only author of the first version of the song.
In 1998 I wrote Agnieszka from A to Z, every word in the text, every note, melody line, everything, the story is from my life. However, as a loyal young man, I did not register this song on myself, but decided to share the copyright with “friends”. My “talented colleagues” earned hundreds of thousands of zlotys for almost 30 years, thanks to my naivety from copyrights to other works, but it was still not enough for them – writes the offended Konkol.
The artist emphasizes that he has only felt so helpless once in his life.
If I ever felt how unfair life is, it wasn’t in the hospital when I was dying feeling helpless as a young man, but today, I don’t even have the strength to be sad, I feel terrible, but it’s terribly wronged – adds the musician.
Currently, only remakes and remixes of “Agnieszka 2.0” can be found online.
The split in the Łzy group began in 2021, when Sara Chmiel took over the role of the band’s vocalist after Ania Wyszkoni. At that time, Konkol published an entry online that the artistic vision of the members of Tears and his was significantly different from his plans for the band, so it’s time to replace its lineup.
Due to his movement, Konkol lost access to Łez’s social media, so he started a new one where he publishes music and concert announcements. At the same time, there is a second band with the same name on the market. The tears in which we hear Sara Chmiel on vocals contradict Konkol’s version of events.
The band emphasizes that the artist left the ranks of Tears of his own free will and even asked for his image to be removed from the band’s promotional materials. The group believes that he has relinquished the rights to the name at this point, but Konkol denies this. The conflict over ownership of Tears and the band’s achievements is still ongoing.
It is worth recalling here that there have been many similar disputes between musicians in Poland. Artistic property cases drag on for years and make things difficult for both sides of the dispute. Internal conflicts have already been experienced by, among others, Kat, Kombi, Closed Branch and Batushka.
