On the Internet, you can buy crocus bulbs for about PLN 11 for 10 pieces. Prices for larger packages range from PLN 30 to even PLN 60. We can buy them in garden shops, on industry portals, and in the season even in a supermarket.

How to plant crocuses

Spring crocuses are best planted in the fall, in September. With favorable weather conditions, it can also be done in October. they bloom best in sunny places with humus and permeable soil. Crocus tubers are buried to a depth of 6-8 cm. We plant autumn crocuses in August, then they bloom from September to October.

Potted crocuses

When buying crocuses in pots, we should remember to choose plants that are not fully developed. In high temperatures, crocuses fade within 2-3 days, so the pot should be placed in the coolest place in the house. After flowering crocuses are not suitable for replanting in pots.

What do crocuses symbolize?

Where does the name “crocus” come from? According to Greek mythology, a youth named Krokos (Crocus) was turned into saffron (or crocus). This flower symbolizes serenity and joy. It also means the pleasure of hope. Its purple flowers symbolize pride, dignity and success White flowers symbolize innocence, purity and truth, and yellow flowers the previously mentioned joy, it is also a sign of abstinence.
