Journalist from Guayaquil Lenin Artiedanews anchor Television (Ecuavisa) would suffer an assassination attempt this morning. Allegedly, the communicator received a device, possibly a flash drive or USB, loaded with gunpowder.
According to reports during the first minutes of the event, Artieda reportedly suffered minor injuries. According to a post on social media by reporter Luis Antonio Ruiz (Teleamazonas), the Ecuavisa journalist has already been taken to safety.
He also said that the device would be sent to the newsroom of that media to the address of his colleague.

Another Teleamazonas reporter, Paul Tutivén, added in a post on Twitter that after the event, a group of police officers was deployed to the studios of the mountain channel to properly investigate the case. At least five uniformed police officers appeared on the scene.

Some users of virtual platforms recalled when such attacks happened to other journalists, such as the case of communicator Rafael Cuesta Caputti. While in office, he was the victim of a cluster bomb attack on February 16, 2000, a few days after the coup against former President Jamil Mahuad.
For his part, Artieda just celebrated the birth of his first child with fellow communicator María del Carmen Búnea.
