At 58, Keanu Reeves assures he can still film action sequences: John Wick opens this Thursday, March 23

Canadian actor Keanu Reeves returns to the screens on Thursday, March 23 with the fourth chapter of the saga john wick, a kind of unbridled action movies that are “almost like a ballet” in his opinion.

The last time Reeves filmed scenes in Paris more than 35 years agofor a totally different project: dangerous relations by Stephen Frears, a passionate love story in 18th century France.

Since then, Reeves has followed an increasingly thriller-oriented course, first with the “Matrix” franchise, now starring the sassy yet elegant John Wick, a hitman dedicated to terrorizing tourists in this new installment in places like Montmartre or the Arc de Triomphe.

“I love a good action movie”, to give in. “Being able to film in front of the Sacré-Coeur, in Montmartre, filming in the street at night… that was all very special,” he said.

“We use digital technology, but we prefer the visceral movement of bodies, violence, in the flesh. It’s almost like a ballet“, there stands that.

‘The role of John Wick is for my age’

The opening plot of the first film john wick (2014) seemed boring: a killer who decides to avenge his dog’s death. But the role and story twists became one of Reeves’ most successful.

“What we do is not easy… I have to train for months before I reach it. I need a lot of specialists, and a director who has the necessary vision to create the images, the design, the music, the clothes…”, he confesses.

According to Reeves, the character’s internal tension, aside from his crazy antics, is what keeps audiences hooked on the series. “The man John Wick and the assassin John Wick… they almost seem rivals, but they are really connected”, he assures. “I find that game, that tension fascinating,” he says.
