There have been many outstanding works in the history of cinema. However, there are a few movies that have appeared in the rankings of the best productions of all time for years. Here are five items that, in our opinion, are worth seeing at least once in your life.

“Three Colors: Red”. Kieślowski’s film was appreciated by critics

Krzysztof Kieślowski’s production from 1994 is the last part of the “Three Colors” trilogy, but you can watch it without having to read the previous works. “Red” is not only the culmination of the series, but also the entire career of the Polish director. The psychological drama deals with issues of morality, brotherhood and faith in man. Kieślowski’s work encourages deeper reflection, drawing the viewer into a symbolic and non-simple plot.

“Casablanca”. A classic that is still called one of the best melodramas in history

Casablanca from 1942 is a timeless classic. The film tells the story of Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) – a nightclub owner who years later meets his old love, Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman). The woman appears at his shrine together with her current husband, Victor Laszlo, a well-known Czechoslovak resistance activist. Rick gets a chance to save the couple from the Nazis occupying the title city. The plot focuses on the relationship of former lovers. Viewers wonder to the end whether the feeling that unites them years ago has stood the test of time.

“Titanic”. James Cameron’s timeless hit is an Oscar record holder

There is no need to remind anyone about the Titanic. The romantic story with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet is a hit that probably everyone knows. The production directed by James Cameron delighted viewers and critics, as evidenced by its Oscar record. The film was nominated for 14 categories and won 11 awards.

“Citizen Kane”. One of the most important films in the history of cinema

Citizen Kane is considered by many critics to be the best film ever made. It is thanks to him that today we can confidently say that the film is fully the work of a director, not a production studio. Orson Wells created this immortal classic thanks to a contract that allowed him complete freedom to work without the interference of other producers. Wells’ work could be interpreted in many ways, which was not often seen in the earlier history of cinema. The film focused on the rise and fall of newspaper mogul Charles Foster Kane. With the development of the plot, the viewer learns how interesting the man was, whom most considered a ruthless careerist.

“The Godfather”. Copolla’s masterpiece is a timeless classic

Everyone has heard of The Godfather. Francis Ford Coppola combined in his production a phenomenal plot, brilliant acting, great cinematography and a soundtrack that still sends shivers down my spine. “The Godfather” became an icon of the film world and is still a position worth watching at least once in a lifetime.
