Driven by “the impossibility of living in Basque and the exhaustion accumulated in pursuit of that objective”, eight cultural initiatives, organizers of Basque musical and literary performances and fairs, have agreed to come together.

The Basque book and record fairs of Hernani, Ziburu and Lazkao, the Zarautz Literature festival, Ikusi Mikusi de Sara, (H)ilbeltza de Baztan, Geure Gelatik de Azkoitia and Sormene de Galdakao have created the association doinuele.

Their objective, as they explained today at the presentation in Bilbao, is to strengthen the Basque public: “Expand the network of those who live in Euskera; make the fairs profitable, diverse, massive and very lively, reflecting and meeting point of the Basque community; support creators and creators, writers and musicians, illustrators and translators, publishers and literary magazines; bring books and records closer to people; and make visible the diversity and richness of music and literature in Basque”.

Finally, they have made a call to other initiatives in Basque to join the new network.
