The 74-year-old actress is one of the most charismatic figures on the Polish film scene. For several decades, she has been praised for her acting skills, but her sharp language and firm statements have often aroused controversy. Bożena Dykiel always says directly what she thinks and does not think about the consequences of her statements.
He can criticize any authority. In 2015, during the program “The world is spinning” on TVP1, which was broadcast live, she decided to vulgarly criticize the Pendolino trains, which the government was extremely proud of at the time. Bożena Dykiel called them simply: “pie * valley”, noting that other trains reach a similar travel time.

The actress can also be uncompromising at industry events. Many paparazzi got hit by her when she didn’t feel like taking pictures. This was the case, for example, at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Film Team X in 2022, where Bożena Dykiel covered herself with her hands and shouted: “Get out, get out!”.

Such an attitude should come as no surprise to anyone who knows what Bożena Dykiel considers most important. She has repeatedly emphasized that she is first a wife, mother, grandmother, and only then an actress. She values home much more than work, because it gives her strength, thanks to which she is so active all the time at this age. A few years ago in an interview with the magazine “Twój Styl” that she is still madly in love with her husband and they regularly have sex, which is very important to her:
Sex in your fifties can be better than in your twenties, because you don’t have to be afraid of anything anymore. It only gives joy. Don’t tell the crap that “At a certain age sex doesn’t matter anymore”

Throughout her career, Bożena Dykiel delighted with many outstanding film and theater roles. In the years 1972 – 1985, she was one of the most popular actresses of the National Theater in Warsaw, which was then mostly directed by Adam Hanuszkiewicz. Tickets for performances with her participation sold out quickly, and the halls were bursting at the seams.
When it comes to film and TV roles, viewers remember her perfectly from the production of “Alternatywa 4”, where she played the memorable Miećko Aniołowa – the nosy wife of the owner of the title building. An equally recalcitrant character was Sonia, whom she played in “Znachorze” directed by Jerzy Hoffman.
She also managed to play in the works of Andrzej Wajda. In 1972, she played the famous Kaśka in “Wesele”, and later also appeared in other films by the master, such as: “Promised Land” (1974), “Shadow Line” (1976), “Man of Iron” (1981) and Polish French adaptation of “The Possessed” from 1988. The actress has repeatedly emphasized that she has learned a lot thanks to playing with Wajda.
However, it is the role of Mada Muller in “The Promised Land” that she considers to be the most successful performance of all Wajda’s films in which she took part. Bożena Dykiel often emphasized in interviews that the scene in which she throws a pot at Daniel Olbrychski is one of her favorites:
