The first season of the series “Shadow and Bone” was surprisingly successful. Fans of books whose action takes place in the Grisha universe modeled on Tsarist Russia waited for him impatiently, and those who did not know them, rather with indifference. Meanwhile, it turned out that even those viewers who usually don’t read young adult fantasy novels often enjoyed the production. Within 28 days of the premiere of the first series, it was watched in 55 million households worldwide.
Ben Barnes – from Narnia to Ravka
Ben Barnes received particularly good reviews as General Kirigan – the main opponent, but also the man who is attracted to Alina Starkov – a girl who turns out to be Sun Summoner, a person who can save the world, but also destroy it with her power. Barnes is well remembered by fans of The Chronicles of Narnia – the actor played Prince Caspian there. Fandom of Bardugo’s novels has been trying for years to have this actor play Kirigan. It is rare for the creators of series or movies to listen to the viewers in such situations, and what is more, they also made their favorite project interesting. This was done with great effect. Kirigan Barnes is extremely handsome, mysterious, he has magnetism and darkness needed in this role, and at the same time charm.
In the first series, Kierigan fascinated Alina, but it turned out to be a villain. Thanks to the girl’s powers, the general wanted to take over Ravka, a country divided by the Shadow Fold, where bloodthirsty monsters hunt daredevils trying to travel from one part to another. In the second series, the girl, hailed by some as a saint, is already aware of Kirigan’s plans, and sets out with her childhood friend (who has long wanted to be something more) to Novoziem to get sea serpent bones that can help her defeat her opponent.
Shadow and Bone – what about the second season?
New episodes begin shortly after the first season finale. Alina Starkov has to run away. To some she is a beacon of hope, to others a suspected traitor. However, she has a clear goal: to destroy the Shadow Fold and save Ravka from destruction. The general Kirigan, who was supposed to die in the last clash, emerges stronger and with terrifying allies: backed by an army of seemingly invincible new monsters and the terrifying Grisha of his new recruit, he is more dangerous than ever. To defeat him, Alina and Mal gather powerful new allies and embark on a transcontinental journey to find two mythical creatures that will enhance her powers.
In Ketterdam, the Crows must forge new alliances as they battle old rivals and settle even older feuds that threaten not only their place in the Barrel, but their very lives. When they get the chance to make a deadly jump, they will once again face the legendary Sun Summoner.
The second season consists of eight episodes, some of which are over an hour long. Premiere of all on March 16 at 9:00.
