The amount of the honorary benefit is determined once a year. Importantly, once granted, it is valid for life in the same amount, regardless of any increases. This means that not all centenarians can count on almost PLN 600 more on this account.

Honorary benefit for seniors. Since March, it has been almost PLN 600 more, but not everyone will benefit from the increase

Seniors who are over 100 years old can count on additional benefits in the form of the so-called an honorary benefit, the amount of which is independent of the contributions or allowances collected. Its amount is determined every year, but once granted, it is not subject to indexation even in the event of possible increases.

From March 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023, the honorary benefit amounted to PLN 4,944.79 gross and this is the amount of money that seniors who turned 100 in that period received and still receive. In turn, from March 1, 2023, it increased by PLN 595.46. This means that people who reach the required age after that date can count on an additional payment of PLN 5,540.25.

Honorary benefit for seniors. Who must apply to receive them?

The honorary benefit is paid to centenarians monthly and for life in the same amount in which it was granted. ABOUTthose who take money from -u receive it ex officio. On the other hand, those who have not been granted an old-age or disability pension and have not worked a single day in their lives must submit an application to receive it after reaching the age of one hundred. This is due to the fact that they do not appear in the system.

In 2022, additional money was collected from ZUS alone by almost 2,600 seniors. Its payment is also handled by KRUS, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of National Defence.
