Discounts for seniors over 60. Significant changes to the pensioner’s ID card came into force in January
Seniors who have reached the required retirement age (60 years for women, 65 years for men) and persons receiving a pension or teacher compensation benefit receive the so-called pensioner’s and pensioner’s card. Since January this year, the Social Insurance Institution has been issuing it automatically in electronic form, which makes it available in the mObywatel application. Importantly, if he would like to receive a traditional blank, he must submit an application. It is also worth knowing that the ID cards issued so far do not expire. People with a card can count on many discounts. Among them you will find, among others:
- Discount on public transport. Its amount depends on the municipality.
- Extra allowance to cover parts rehabilitation fees.
- 50 percent passport discounts. It is worth remembering that from the age of 70 it is completely free.
- 37 percent two-way discounts by PKP Intercity train in the year in the second class.
- Discounts on going to the theatre, cinema or museum.
No fees for the RTV 2023 subscription. Who is entitled?
Seniors can also take advantage of the exemption from RTV subscription fees. Applies to:
- people over 60 years of age and receive an old-age pension, but not higher than the monthly amount of 50% of average salary,
- persons over 75 years of age, without other requirements.
Importantly, in order to take advantage of the relief, you should go to the Polish Post Office and present there an application along with a document that confirms that the person is entitled to exemption from the subscription fee.
Nationwide Senior Card for people over 60. Discounts at many points
In addition to the pensioner’s and pensioner’s ID card, seniors who are over 60 can apply application for the issue of the National Senior Card. This, in turn, entitles them to many discounts in almost 3,000 points throughout the country. This applies to e.g. sanatoriums, health resorts and cultural institutions.
