Many people may consider the word “konstantinopolitanczykowianeczka” to be the longest word in the Polish language. As it turns out, the phrase describing a diminutive inhabitant of Constantinople does not appear in native dictionaries. the term found in lexicons is “fifty groszy” (23 letters).
Admittedly, the rules of our language would allow us to create even longer words, such as “nine hundred and ninety-nine and a half years old.” On the other hand, words with the prefix “great”, such as great-great-great-grandfather, can be extended practically endlessly. Some words, however, are long, without unnecessary treatments. These include “over-intellectualize” (21 letters), moderately mineralized (21 letters) or sound imitation (21 letters).

The official record holder in this category is really impressive. The longest word in the world, entered in the Guinness Book of Records in 1991, contains 128 characters. It comes from the Swedish language and “preparatory work for participation in the discussion on the system of maintaining the material support of the air surveillance simulator for the north-eastern part of the Baltic coastal artillery”. The original notation is as follows: Nordöstersiökustartilleriflygspaningssimulatoranlägeningsmaterielunderhallsupptoljningssystemdiskussioninläggförberedelsearbeten.
