Bohdan Smoleń was a well-known satirist and . He was born on June 9, 1947 in Bielsko. His mother worked as a choreographer, and his father was a compere. Although he graduated from zootechnics at the Agricultural University in Krakow, performing on stage turned out to be his greatest passion. He played, among others, in the cabaret “Tey” and the series “Świat according to Kiepskich”. In 1970 he married Teresa, with whom he ran a pet shop in Poznań. The marriage had three children. For over 40 years, Smoleń entertained both the audience and in front of TV sets. Pfor many years he did not talk about what happened in his family. He decided to do it only more than 20 years later.

Krzysztof Ziemec’s “Undefeated” Smoleń told in detail about the family tragedy. In 1990, his 16-year-old son committed suicide by hanging himself. It was he who found his body. Thinking back to the old days, he spoke in a broken voice. “I had to discover it, pick up the body, cover it and wait for the police. And have time to think about what I’m going to say. What time did he leave the house, why wasn’t he at home at ten o’clock in the evening, he confessed. The tragic events took place just a few hundred meters from the family’s home. The boy hanged himself from a tree. “Everyone was looking at me, what would I do, would I start crying, would I start feeling remorse,” he said. Then Smoleń was left alone with two children, and he found help from his closest family. – She knew I was tougher than her and she couldn’t understand that she had two more children to raise, she was only worried about one. We didn’t know what else life would surprise us with, it surprised me with the departure of my wife, which I would never have imagined. In the evening my friend Andrzej came. We drank, we talked about everything but death. At one point Teresa went upstairs, she was tired. When the guests were leaving, I went to fetch her to say goodbye. She hung herself on her bra, Smoleń confessed.
In the last years of his life, Bohdan Smoleń had health problems. He died in 2016.

Recent years have been marked by many health problems, including three strokes. After the last one in 2015, he was paralyzed and moved around in a wheelchair. The man died on December 15, 2016 in Poznań. He was buried in the family tomb in Przeźmierowo next to his tragically deceased son and wife.
