Indexation of pensions 2023. That’s for sure! Even PLN 250 more will be transferred to the accounts of these seniors every month

From March 1, 2023, seniors’ accounts were credited with the first pensions after a record indexation. Depending on the amount of the benefit received, they could count on an amount or percentage increase. How much were they?

The indexation of pensions in 2023 is not only a percentage, but also an amount. How much was it?

On March 1 this year there was a record-breaking, but also exceptional, because it assumed an increase in both percentage and amount. This means that seniors could count on either 14.8 percent. more, or a minimum increase of PLN 250 gross, which gives approx. PLN 227 net. Quantitative indexation applies to people who are entitled to at least the minimum pension or a maximum of approx. PLN 1,700 gross.

However, it should be remembered that although this year’s percentage indexation is a record, it results from the regulations and was calculated on the basis of the so-called pension inflation in 2022.

With March 1, the minimum amount also changed. It increased from PLN 1,338.44 gross to PLN 1,588.44. People whose benefits do not exceed approx. PLN 1,700 gross can count on the amount indexation. Other seniors whose pensions are higher will receive 14.8 percent. more. What do the increases look like for some of them?

• PLN 1,500 gross (PLN 1,365 net) -> PLN 1750 gross (PLN 1593 net)which is PLN 228 more
• PLN 2,100 gross (PLN 1,911 net) -> PLN 2,411 gross (PLN 2,194 net)which is PLN 283 more
• PLN 2,500 gross (PLN 2,275 net) -> PLN 2,870 gross (PLN 2,568 net)which is PLN 293 more.
• PLN 3,000 gross (PLN 2,670 net) -> PLN 3,444 gross (PLN 3,021 net)which is PLN 351 more.
• PLN 3,500 gross (PLN 3,065 net) -> PLN 4,018 gross (PLN 3,474 net)which is PLN 409 more.
• PLN 4,000 gross (PLN 3,460 net) -> PLN 4,592 gross (PLN 3,928 net)which is PLN 468 more.
• PLN 4,500 gross (PLN 3,855 net) -> PLN 5,166 gross (PLN 4,381 net)which is PLN 526 more.
• PLN 5,000 gross (PLN 4,250 net) -> PLN 5,740 gross (PLN 4,835 net)which is PLN 585 more.

Pensions are paid on the 1st, 5th, 6th, 10th, 15th, 20th and 25th of each month. This means that the first seniors can already enjoy higher benefits. The cost of this year’s indexation is approx. PLN 44.15 billion.
