Moving post by Mateusz Murañski’s father after winning “IO”: Our dearest son…

A month after Mateusz Murañski’s death, his father posted a touching entry on the web referring to his appearance in Jerzy Skolimowski’s “IO”. The film won the Eagle for the best Polish film and is also competing for Oscars.

“Our dearest son” – began the entry on Facebook, informing that “Master Jerzy Skolimowski’s film ‘IO’ with your participation triumphed at the Polish Film Academy’s ‘Eagles 2023’ gala”. In the next sentence, he also addressed his son on behalf of himself and Mateusz Murański’s mother:

Although you are not physically there, we know that you also look down on your success and thanks to the Creator we can spiritually contemplate these touching moments together.

The text was illustrated by a photo of a smiling son with one of the donkeys that played the main role in Skolimowski’s film.

Mateusz Murański appeared in the Oscar-nominated “IO”. Gala this weekend

Mateusz Murański died in February this year at the age of 29. The expert indicated that the direct cause of death was acute circulatory and respiratory failure.

Murański was known to a wider audience as an actor in the series “Lombard. Życie pod zastaw”, he also played a small role of “kibola” in the Oscar-nominated “IO”. You could also see him in the movie “Other People”, where his character was referred to as “homie”. In a recent conversation with Gossip, he made plans for the future.

I am happily in love, fulfilling myself at work and in life. My girlfriend has been working as an inspector for many years and helps animals. She goes to Ukraine and as much as I can, I help her, because we are also a temporary home for animals after going through. We even open our first small shelter.

Mateusz Murański also tried his hand at MMA, boxing and kickboxing. He performed, among others at FAME MMA or High League galas. His father also regularly participates in freak-fights and has a reputation as a controversial competitor.

“IO” is a Polish-Italian co-production telling the story of a donkey born in a Polish circus, passed from hand to hand. On the night of January 12/13, we will find out whether it will win the Oscar for the best international film.
