Ewa Ciepiela has delighted both on screen and on stage for over 40 years. she created many outstanding acting creations, including the iconic character of Princess Ewelina in the popular series “Janosik”. For many years she was associated with the National Stary Theater in Krakow, where she played over 40 different roles. The last time she appeared on the screen was in 2005 in the episode she received in the film “Karol. A Man Who Became Pope”. Two years later, she played her last theatrical role. At that time, she played the role of the Crone in the play “The Sejm of Women”. Despite her talent, she was forced to say goodbye to the stage due to health problems.

Before the actress decided to retire, she had several accidents, the consequence of which was deteriorating health. First, she suffered a serious spinal injury, and later broke her leg and hip. Despite surgery to implant an endoprosthesis, her condition continued to deteriorate, and the pain did not subside. – I am sick, I have no strength – in an interview with “Gazeta Krakowska”. Progressive cataracts and advanced diabetes joined the mobility problems. Due to the ailments that significantly hindered her functioning, in 2007 she decided to retire.
As it turns out, even though Ciepiela used to be one of the biggest stars of Polish cinema, today the 81-year-old barely makes ends meet. The financial situation of the actress is extremely difficult, and the pension she receives from the Social Insurance Institution is not sufficient to meet her basic needs, including the purchase of necessary medicines and rehabilitation. Unfortunately, the artist is also lonely. She separated from her husband many years ago and has no children, so she is on her own. “No one in my family is alive anymore. I can only count on my friends, Ciepiela revealed.
Her colleague Anna Dymna found out about the situation of the sick star, who decided to support her in difficult times. The artist opened a fundraiser together with the “Mimo Dobrze” foundation. The collected funds will be donated to Ciepiela’s rehabilitation and the purchase of medicines.
