It has been 22 years since the premiere of the first Polish edition of “Big Brother”. The reality show changed the face of Polish television and became a career pass for many of its participants. See how the most controversial heroes of the program have changed over the years.

The first episode of “Big Brother” debuted on TVN on March 4, 2001. Television shows were very popular among viewers, and some participants became permanent guests in Polish show business. Although the formula of the program was unethical in the opinion of many, during the broadcasting hours the viewership increased, and everyone with bated breath followed the fate of the heroes locked in the “Big Brother” house. For many, the program turned out to be a ticket to a career, but others did not use their five minutes.

The winner of the first edition of “Big Brother” was the Commander of the municipal guard in Świecie almost immediately won the sympathy of the viewers. He got along well with the other participants and seemed like a warm man. After the end of the program, he went into politics, but his career was cut short by his sudden death. The man died on December 6, 2019 in a road accident.

Manuela Michalak was one of the viewers’ favorites to win, but ended up taking second place. After the program ended, she got married and started a career in show business. She was a co-host of the program “Smile Marathon” broadcast by TVN, but eventually retired from the industry. At the moment, he manages the Polish sales branch of an Italian company related to hair extensions.

The third place in the program went to Ma³gorzata Maier, but the participant could not cope with the popularity and omnipresent interest from the media. Eventually, she moved into the shadows and started working in the PR department of one of Warsaw’s shopping centers. Currently, her main occupation is the creation of ceramics and handicrafts.

After the program, Piotr Lato also tried to appear in show business. The participant was kicked out of the reality show for breaking the rules, which made him loud for a long time. Already in “Big Brother” he announced the conquest of the music scene. Over the years, he took part in “Idol”, where he reached the finals, and in 2015 he applied to the program “The Voice of Poland”. Despite the release of the album, it ultimately did not achieve spectacular success.

Participation in the program opened the door to a career for Piotr Gulczyński. Known from “Big Brother” as Gulczas, he was famous for his passion for motorcycles. He left the “Big Brother” house as the sixth, which means that the cameras followed almost every step he took for almost three months. After leaving the program, he tried his hand as an actor, and then wrote the book “Secrets of the house in Sękocin”, in which he revealed the backstage of the production. Currently, Gulczas works in the advertising industry.
