Majka Je¿owska: My peers say “Majka is gone”. It’s terribly sad. I want to fly

It’s an erotic movie, to put it mildly. That is, something that interests us, and that we, as our society, do not like to talk about, because it is a taboo topic. I know something about it because my openness always makes me talk about it. And it’s considered crazy for a mature woman to say she likes sex or that we should all have sex. We prefer to watch this sex with someone else, and not talk about ourselves and our possible sexual adventures. So in the movie “Generation Ikea” there will be something to look at – Majka Je¿owska, who played the main character’s mother, said at the very beginning of the interview for Gazeta.pl. Majka Jeżowska: Bartosz Gelner is a completely non-Polish actor

– I like new challenges, so I agreed to the role of the mother of the main character, because it is an honor to be the mother of the main character – whatever he is. Also out of curiosity and rock’n’roll willingness to learn new things – she also explained her willingness to participate in the production. There is no denying that Majka Jeżowska’s songs such as “And I prefer my mother” or “All our children are” grew up a whole generation of modern 30-year-olds. So they can experience a cognitive shock all the more when they see her in the trailer of the movie “Ikea Generation”. There is already a line from her mouth that many do not expect from her – her heroine says to her on-screen son “Today you won’t talk”.

– Excuse me, a warm and loving mum who has already been through a lot in her life and who knows her son and knows that he likes sex, so – what can tell from his hand? And break the serious conversation, because in this scene we talk about life, about its problems, about my marriage to his father, who just died. I think that the idea for this sentence, which apparently everyone reacts to, was born during our first meeting with Bartosz, when we were reading dialogues. What could the conversation look like? – she replies when asked about this dialogue. As it turns out, she made it up herself, because that’s exactly what she would say to her son.

– I think it was just needed to build chemistry between us on the set. It was fantastic to work – she noted and began to praise her film son:

I repeat everywhere that Bartosz Gelner is a completely non-Polish actor when it comes to beauty and manner of acting. I am American by heart and by experience. I love American cinema, I’ve been a moviegoer since I was a child (…)

For me he is [Bartosz Gelner – przyp. red.] fascinating character, completely non-Polish, not from our fairy tale. Since I also don’t feel a bit in this Polish fairy tale, it seems to me that it made us get along great on the set.

She also warned viewers:

What else do I want to say – girls be careful, you will go to the cinema and fall in love, life will not be the same again. Bartosz has black, deep eyes. It’s like a tunnel you fall into and pull yourself in. And I’m a mom! I can’t be a woman, I can’t get sucked in – that was the hardest part.

Majka Jeżowska has not appeared too often in the mainstream media over the last 20 years, although she has never abandoned her professional activity. Her big breakthrough was her loud concert at the Pol’and’Rock festival in 2019, where she presented rock arrangements of her greatest hits. This performance electrified the audience and led to the fact that the singer began a new stage of her career. He also allowed her, years later, to get out of the drawer in which she was squeezed as a singer performing family music.

– Everything is very complex. First, the head says that nothing will happen again: Give it a rest. You did something nice and keep quiet. That should be enough for you. That’s what my partner and manager told me for many years. I couldn’t agree with that. Such a drop of bitterness gnawed, gnawed. I want something more from life. I want to try, I want to fly. I want wings. And all this led to the fact that we broke up – he recalls during our conversation.

I started a new life, professionally too. I started playing with a band, with young people, rock arrangements of songs. When all this happened, they said I should perform here, here and here. I say good, but who will want me there, who will listen to me – he talks about his initial doubts.

– If I already know that someone wants it, I go like fire. Believe me, it’s hard for a person like me to go to castings and ask to be noticed. It must come from outside, there must be some information from the universe. I’m the lucky one. Although I don’t get proposals from my peers, who know me well, nor from production companies and television, which do not perceive me at all. In fact, when I try to get somewhere, they say: E, Majka – pasee. Mother is no more. It’s terribly sad for someone who wants to create all the time. And on top of that, she is a woman who must constantly confirm that she is attractive and that I can still be shown or that someone wants to look at me and listen to me – she said.

– So it’s a young man who has some sympathy because he was at my concert, or discovers something in me – he comes to me with a proposal. It was Dawid Gral, a debuting director, who could approach a movie star – of course, he would have to have a lot of money for that – but he preferred to discover me for the sake of the film. For this, I am very grateful to you Dawid – she thanked the director of the film “The Ikea Generation”.

She pointed out that she is not the only one with such experiences as an experienced artist, though overlooked by the industry: – Now I am looking at the great popularity of Jennifer Coolidge – the mother of Stifler from “American Pie”. She herself says in interviews that she was in the dark ass. No one invited her, no one offered her anything. She was finished. He talks about it in an interview like I do. One man believed that this was the role for her and he persisted. And she did not believe in herself and did not want to accept this role. So it was young people who helped her – Ariana Grande invited Jennifer Coolidge to her music video. Last year, PROBL8M rappers invited me to a joint hip-hop tour. It must come from young people who are not afraid to cooperate, I don’t know, with a “legend”, with an icon, with someone older, who is in a slightly different drawer, but wants to get out of this drawer and wants to have fun. I want to have fun and my newest single will be called “We’re having fun” and that’s what it’s going to be about.
