This week, the series borrowed from the Star Wars universe has been rebooted The Mandalorian; It is the show’s third season premiered in November 2019, when the world met Baby Yodathe nickname borne by the minor character of the same race as the ancient Jedi Knight, and whose name, we later learned, is Grogu.

His inseparable companion is Din Djarin, better known as Command or the Mandalorian, currently an apostate, a word used for someone who has given up or betrayed his faith, at least from the point of view of his co-religionists.

In the Star Wars universe, the Mandalorians are warriors who, regardless of origin, share a strict code of conduct. His armor is his holy clothing, and to remove his helmet is a great offense.

The order originates from the planet Mandalore. There are very few Mandalorians left today either by birth or adoption. But the order continues to recruit young men.

Episode 1 of the third season shows us an initiation ceremony, which is interrupted by the arrival of Din and Grogu (and other circumstances). Not even the good intentions of the two make them welcome. Din took off his helmet more than once, in the first two seasons.

There is one way to redeem yourself (reclaim your dignity as a Mandalorian), and that is to bathe in the well of some of the underground mines on Mandalore. But since it was destroyed, fulfilling the rite is impossible.

So what if the entire planet was uncontaminated and left uninhabitable? That’s the premise of Season 3, where Din and Grogu go in search of the remains of Mandalore, revisiting some characters from previous adventures along the way: the Armorer (Emily Swallow), Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), the Gorian Shard space pirates (fans were quick to compare him to Captain Davy Jones) and the gun droid IG-11, now a statue in a plaza.

The production took the opportunity to explain the bounty hunter’s absence Cara Dune, the character of actress Gina Carano, who was fired from Lucasfilms based on her unpopular comments on social media.

Dune’s place will probably be taken by Bo Katan, who makes a brief appearance to give his disbelieving vision of the future of the Mandalorians. Her followers have abandoned her. for not getting the Darksaber Din Djarin won, and she hung up her weapons. His apathy fails to discourage the protagonists, who are determined to form a strong team to search for what is left of Mandalore.

It is a short episode (36 minutes) that shows that despite the facts of season 2 and Bobba Fett’s book there is no true peace in the galaxy, only groups hiding and biding their time.
