The break between one of the most famous couples of the millennium, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, surprised all his followers. Five years after the separation, the actor spoke with GQ magazine about the process of depression and overcoming that followed the divorce.
“I have always felt very alone in life. Just growing up as a kid, just out there and it’s not until recently that I’ve felt the need to hug my friends and family more,” he explained.
Pitt, 58, confessed that for a period he had problems with alcohol and tobacco abuse and that he did not have the ability to smoke just one or two cigarettes a day. After his divorce, the actor entered an Alcoholics Anonymous group for 18 months while practicing abstinence.
“I was in a pretty cool, private, selective group of men, so I was safe,” says Pitt, who also admitted in the ’90s that he used to smoke pot daily when he was married to Jennifer Aniston. His marriage culminated in a divorce in 2005 after he met and fell in love with Angelina Jolie in the movie “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”.
Jolie and Pitt married in 2014, 9 years after starting their romance. Only 2 years later, they started with the separation procedures. Since then, the actor began a relationship with the actress of “Once upon a time in Hollywood”, Nicole Poturalski.
Pitt recently starred in the movie “Bullet Rain” and is currently working on a project with his production company, Plan B Entertainment. It is “Women Talking”, an adaptation of the novel by Miriam Toews, which he defines as “one of the most profound films that have been made in the last decade”. (AND)
