When she appeared in the music program, viewers associated her voice well. Christina Grimmie was already known as one of the most popular on YouTube. After participating in the talent show, her career began to gain momentum. A contract with a label, many hours of recording in the studio and numerous concerts were what she dreamed of since she was a child. Unfortunately, the happiness of the young star was interrupted by a tragic death at the hands of a psychofan.
She started her career on the Internet. It quickly gained popularity and a group of loyal listeners
Christina Grimmie showed a great passion for music from an early age. As a 10-year-old, she began learning to play the piano and quickly began performing in front of audiences at local events. When she was 15, she came up with the idea of posting her covers on YouTube. This is how her adventure with the platform began, thanks to which she gained her first fans. Young regularly uploaded videos on the Internet in which she sang songs by the most popular artists, and her popularity was constantly growing. After only two years of online activity, she took 2nd place in the “MyYouTube” competition, while the first place went to Disney star Selena Gomez.
Participation in “The Voice” strengthened her position in the music industry. She signed contracts with two music labels
In 2011, the debut mini-album “Find Me” appeared on the phonographic market, which was promoted by Grimmie with the single “Advice”. Her original music appealed to listeners and two years later her first and only full-fledged album released during her lifetime, “With Love”, appeared. To increase the reach, she decided to take part in castings for the 6th edition of the American “The Voice”. The judges immediately recognized her talent and she moved on to the next stages of the program. On the way to the final, she could count on support, among others from Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, whose mother was her manager.
Although she did not win the show, she took 3rd place and her career took off almost immediately. She quickly signed a contract with two labels, 222 Records and Young Money Entertainment, and went on tour, during which she performed alongside the winners of previous editions of the American “The Voice”. Career dreams began to come true, and Grimmie was able to pursue music full-time.
After the concert, she left the stage to sign autographs. Then shots were fired
The group of Grimmie fans was constantly growing. Young traveled around the country and performed live, and crowds of loyal listeners came to her concerts. On June 10, 2016, she had a scheduled concert in Orlando, which turned out to be the last in her life. She was warmly welcomed by the gathered audience, and after the show she decided to leave the stage to talk to the fans and sign autographs. After only a few minutes, someone from the gathered crowd fired three shots in the direction of the singer. Two of them hit the chest and one hit the head. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, but her condition was critical. Despite the efforts of the doctors, her life could not be saved and she was pronounced dead just before 11 pm. Christina Grimmie was 22 when she died.
It turned out that the killer of the young singer was a certain Kevin Loibl. As the investigation proved, the man was her psychofan. He was obsessed with Grimmie, which drove him to a gruesome act. Unfortunately, he never took responsibility for the crime, because Loibl committed suicide right after the incident.
Both the family and faithful fans of the young artist could not accept her premature and tragic death. Relatives decided to honor her memory by releasing the album “All Is Vanity”, which she was working on before the attack. The album debuted on the market on the first anniversary of Christina Grimmie’s death.
