The promising Warner Bros project that was the new film from Flash enters danger due to the behavior of its main actor, Ezra Millerwho has been arrested twice in the past year, trying to strangle a fan, and who has several restraining orders, being accused of manipulating minors.
Warner’s studio told dead line that they tried to help the actor, without any success, and that now they will have to wait to see the resolution of the new problem in which Miller finds himself. The 29-year-old American actor has recently been accused of sexual harassment and his whereabouts remain unknown to the judicial authorities.
This would be the first crisis facing David Zaslav, the new CEO of Warner since last April, who stated that there is a possibility that Miller will no longer be part of the future DC cinematic universe.
The studio added that it “probably won’t keep Miller in the role of The Flash in future DC movies, even if no more allegations come to light.”
However, Zaslav remains hopeful for the future of the film, which has cost $200 million and is being directed by Andy Muschietti, director of Itemand Michael Keaton’s performance as Batman.
Currently, Warner is exploring different alternatives for the distribution of the feature film, which finished its production in October 2021 and would have its release in June 2023. Among the options considered are the restriction of the advertising campaign of the film, the premiere through of HBO Max (assuming economic losses) or continue with the theatrical release and leave the Miller situation in the background.
“Warner does not gain anything with this (…). The only hope is that the scandal subsides between now and the release of the film and hope that it comes out as well as possible, “the studio said.
