The exhibition explores the artist’s musical evolution, from her origins as a Latin rock-loving singer-songwriter in Barranquilla to a global superstar whose catalog spans multiple genres, from bhangra and bachata to rock and reggaeton.

It will contain interactive elements that will provide new perspectives on the artist’s creative process. Added to this will be 40 items from his personal archive, three original films, an impressive space inspired by his El Dorado tour.

Among the items that will make up this exhibition are: composition notebook with handwritten letters, two of Shakira’s outfits for Super Bowl LIV 2020, his Taylor acoustic guitar that he uses to write songs and his Gibson Firebird Electric Guitar, covered with 70,000 black Swarovski crystals, and more.

“Shakira is the rare superstar who has found a way to continue to evolve as an artist while her audience grows with her.”said Jasen Emmons, the Museum’s chief curator and vice president of curatorial affairs.
