Pour it into a bowl and place it in the fridge. Vegetables will stay fresh for longer

Everyone happens to buy a little more, which we do not eat right away. We assume that thanks to this, you will not have to return to the store in the next few days. However, if we do not manage to eat them in this time, we are often accompanied by remorse when throwing food into the trash. What if you could keep it fresher for longer and reduce food waste? It turns out that it is possible, and very easy. All you have to do is pour table salt into a small bowl or saucer, and then place it in the container in the refrigerator where vegetables are usually stored.

The method seems unusual at first glance, but its results are spectacular. Not everyone is aware that salt has hygroscopic properties. This means that it naturally attracts moisture to its surface, which as a result does not settle on vegetables and does not accelerate their spoilage. Salt along with moisture will also absorb odors from the refrigerator, which after some time can be bothersome for us.

How to keep vegetables fresh longer? Wash them only before consumption

To keep vegetables fresh in the refrigerator, they should not be stored in plastic bags, in which we often bring them from the store. A much better solution are mesh bags or loose food to ensure air circulation. It is important to wash vegetables only immediately before consumption, because earlier contact with water will facilitate the growth of bacteria, which will significantly accelerate their spoilage.
