Many people are used to charging their phones and tablets at night. All this so that the devices are ready for work in the morning. However, experts remind us that we should not do this. Why is this not a good practice?
Charging devices at night. Is it safe?
Charging the device at night may cause an electrical short, among other things. Then the path to fire is very short. A few years ago, the media reported the case of an 11-year-old boy who left a tablet connected to the charger on his bed, and when he got up, it turned out that the device had burned a hole in the sheets just a few centimeters from his head. Firefighters are appealing that more and more devices connected to electricity cause fires – kettles, coffee machines or just overheating and short circuiting in the electrical system.
– Fires caused by kettles and espresso machines are a problem known to firefighters for years. Therefore, whenever we go to sleep or leave the house, we should turn them off. These are often plastic devices set on wooden tops. They may short circuit and start a fire. Also, we often keep mobile phones charged at night in the bedding, next to the bed. It is not prudent or safe – explained the head of the Greater Poland fire brigade. Andrew Bartkowiak.

Don’t charge your phone or tablet in bed. This may cause the battery to overheat
There are more and more electrical devices in our homes, which forces us to buy more extension cords or splitters, but as Andrzej Bartkowiak emphasizes, each electrical outlet has its limitations and it is easy to overload. If too many devices are connected to the socket, the installation may overheat. Let us also remember that when charging, for example, in bedding, it can overheat very easily.
