Madonna’s brother died at the age of 66. He was homeless and his family forgot about him

The media doesn’t say much about Madonna’s family. Typically, these must be extremely important messages. So it is this time. The artist’s family has announced the death of her older brother, Anthony Ciccone. The singer had not kept in touch with him for years, and for years he lived as a homeless person and struggled with alcoholism.

The husband of Madonna’s sister Joe Henry announced the death of 66-year-old Anthony Ciccone. He posted an emotional Instagram post in which he wrote about the difficult life of a man who was one of Madonna’s seven siblings. He described Anthony Ciccone as a “complex character” and wrote in the final sentence:

I want to believe that God, your mom and mine are waiting for you there

The details of Ciccone’s death have not been released. Henry’s Instagram post was liked by Madonna, but the pop star made no statement about his brother’s departure. US media outlets have reached out to the artist’s representatives for comment, but so far have received no response.

A few years ago, the media circulated information about the man’s poor living conditions. He reportedly struggled with alcoholism and was homeless for several years. According to the Associated Press, in 2013 he suffered severe head injuries after resisting arrest in a public bathroom in Michigan. His blood alcohol level was supposed to be 0.4 per mille at the time.

In 2011, Ciccone gave an interview for the daily “”, in which he said that his popular sister does not care about him at all. “I’m a zero in their eyes – a non-person. I’m a shame.” He also added that the whole family had no interest in his fate: “If I had frozen to death, my family probably wouldn’t have known or cared for six months.”
