The Polish pre-selections for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest are behind us. Ten performers competed to represent our country during the competition in Liverpool, but the final three included Dominik Dudek with the song “Be Good”, Jann and his “Gladiator” and Blanka with the song “Solo”.

Blanka Stajkow is a 23-year-old singer who started her adventure with music at the age of 14 and since then she has been striving to shine on the big stage. She has Polish-Bulgarian roots, but for some time she also lived in the United States, where she improved her English and vocal skills. She managed to perform at Open Mic sessions in various restaurants and pubs in Los Angeles and New York, including at The Bitter End club, where Lady Gaga also started.
After returning to Poland, she also tried her hand at the tenth edition of the “Top Model” program, but the jurors at the casting stages rejected her. On the wave of popularity, she released her first single “Better”, which recorded over 440,000 copies. views on YouTube. Recently, she has also become known as a girl in the music video for the song “Pijmy for a Better Time” by Smolasty and 730 Huncho.
In autumn 2022, the artist signed a contract with Warner Music Poland and presented the song “Solo”, which has been conquering the most popular radio stations since its premiere, and has already been played over 10 million times on YouTube. It was with this song that she decided to fight during the pre-selection for the 67th Eurovision Song Contest.
Blanka – Solo
The worst among all the candidates was Ahlena with the song “Booty”, which scored the least points among both the judges and the viewers. Two days before the pre-selections, a scandal broke out in the media, in which her song played the main role. All because of the statement of one of the members of the TVP program council, who was outraged by the presence of “Booty” in the preselections. According to him, the composition was “scandalous” and “obscene”. However, this did not prevent the artist from presenting herself during the Sunday concert.
The selection of the representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 is determined by half of the votes from the viewers, which can be sent via SMS, and the points awarded by the jury. This year, the audience of the concert did not like the choices made by the judges. Summa summarum, however, turned out to be the same as the viewers. Everyone unequivocally chose Blanka as the winner.
This year’s pre-selections were held under the slogan “Here beats the heart of Europe! We choose a hit for Eurovision”, and the concert was hosted by Iga Nowakowska, Ma³gorzata Tomaszewska and Aleksander Sikora. The head of the jury was Edyta Górniak, who also appeared just before the announcement of the final results.
