500 plus for a senior. What do you need to submit besides the form?

500 plus for seniors is a supplementary benefit for persons incapable of independent existence. What’s more, despite the common name, people who turn 18 can apply for them. In order to receive them, you must submit a form to the Social Insurance Institution with a certificate attached, which will confirm:

  • inability to live independently,
  • total incapacity for work and inability to live independently,
  • full inability to work on a farm and inability to live independently,
  • total incapacity for service and inability to live independently,
  • inclusion in the first group of invalids issued by a medical commission before 1 September 1997 (if the period for which the invalidity was certified has not expired).

PLN 500 pension every month for these seniors. What other conditions do they have to meet?

But that’s not all. Only persons who additionally:

  • they are not entitled to an old-age or disability pension, they have no established right to another, e.g. an allowance
    or
  • are entitled to these benefits, but their total gross amount does not exceed PLN 1,896.13. However, this amount does not include the survivor’s pension granted for a child who has become incapable of work and independent existence,
  • live in Poland,
  • have Polish citizenship or the right of residence or permanent residence in Poland (for persons who are citizens of an EU or EFTA Member State) or have a legal stay in Poland.
