TO antonio lopez always caught his attention Common places and he noticed them when he embarked on the paint. “I started painting streets, not the historical ones, but the common places. They were the ones that moved me because they were mine,” the artist confesses to the cameras. Now a hand bound book collect these portraits from places. The product of the Artika publishing house has surprised him himself. “It gives more of a finished feeling here than in the draw,” he says.

The work of this genius is collected in 2,998 copies that are sold in ARC 2023 by 6,000 euros. Two of her passions meet in it: summer in Madrid and architecture, which she sees as an art of the human being to live within. That passion and patience is portrayed in each of his works, whether it is restoring his own sculpture or portraying the capital under a scorching sun.

He picture of the Gran Vía is one of the artist’s most famous. In it he introduced a key element in his career: eliminate everything that moved. He started painting it at six in the morning. His view of Vallecas, also famous, took him 10 years. “I cannot invent, I have an objective starting point, that I have lived or seen”, he explains himself.
