- egg shells
Although this idea may seem controversial, its actions can be beneficial. If you’ve never heard of using eggshells to bleach laundry before, it’s time to change that! All you have to do is throw the crushed shells of 2-3 eggs into a linen bag or carefully wrapped and tied gauze and put it together with the clothes in the washing machine. Then run a traditional wash with washing powder. If you are dealing with heavily dyed garments, you can use several bags of shells.
- bay leaves and baking soda
Did you know that both our mothers and grandmothers used this method? What’s more, it is not only trivially easy to use, but also extremely cheap – we will pay about PLN 2.5 for a sachet of baking soda and bay leaves in the store! Where to start? All you need to do is prepare a simple brew. Pour a few bay leaves with water and then boil. After it has cooled slightly, add 1-2 teaspoons of baking soda and mix everything thoroughly. Pour the prepared mixture into a bowl in which you will soak the dyed clothes. Leave them for a few hours and wash them in the washing machine after the allotted time.
- lemon juice
It’s no secret that lemon is known for its whitening properties. It will also be perfect for saving white clothes dyed in the wash! All you have to do is cut two lemons into thick slices, put them in a large bowl and pour warm water over them. You can also add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide, thanks to which the juice from the aforementioned fruit will activate, or a teaspoon of baking powder. Put the colored clothes into the prepared mixture. Leave for an hour, then rinse and wash as normal.
