Tax refund for seniors. Who will receive it?
Seniors who received more than PLN 2,500 gross last year can count on an additional cash injection in the form of overpaid tax. All thanks to the change in the PIT rate, which was in force in 2022. For the first six months it was 17 percent, and then 12 percent. This means that seniors who overpaid it until June will now receive a refund. But why only those whose benefits exceeded PLN 2,500 gross per month? From January 2022, the tax-free amount was raised to PLN 30,000. PLN per year. This means that people who received less than PLN 2,500 gross pension did not pay it because they were within the limits.
Seniors can count on a refund of up to PLN 700. If they hurry, the transfer will come before Christmas
The amount of refund they will receive depends mainly on the amount of the pension, and thus also the tax paid. The principle is simple. The higher the benefit, the higher the taxes and refund. Although the exact amounts are not yet known, the portal shared its estimates. What can they look like in the case of people who have not benefited from any reliefs and deductions?
- With the benefit of PLN 2,550 gross per month, the return may amount to PLN 18.
- With the benefit of PLN 3,200 gross per month, the return may amount to PLN 210.
- With the benefit of PLN 3,500 gross per month, the return may amount to PLN 300.
- With the benefit of PLN 4,500 gross per month, the return may amount to PLN 600.
- With a benefit of PLN 5,000 gross per month, the return may amount to PLN 708.
From February 15, seniors can complete their tax returns. The fastest way to do it is online, in the Twoj e-PIT service. The tax office has 45 days to settle such a tax return, so if seniors hurry up, they will receive a refund before Easter. In the case of forms submitted on paper, this period is extended to up to 3 months.
