Like Scott Lang couldn’t believe he was part of The Avengersto the actor paul rudd it still seems unreal how long he’s been with Marvel Studios since the first Ant-Man movie, released in 2015going through the sequel (2018), civil war (2016) and the blockbuster Avengers: endgame (2019).

Although for the new Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Due to the premiere in Ecuador on Thursday, February 16, they are ready to embrace their success and fortune. “My character has grown over the nine years I’ve played him (…) he’s been through a lot and now he’s finally accepting who he is.”, said Rudd at a virtual press conference to which this newspaper was invited.

“This story, what is happening is crazy,” he stressed. “Everything that happens in this movie affects everything that follows in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Everything is highlighted, magnified, although there is still the family historysince the movie is really about the family, but it’s much more dramatic and it’s even scary,” he said. “One thing that’s unique about this movie, compared to the other two, is the scale, the size. It seems weird to talk about the scale and size of an Ant-Man movie, but it feels very relevant.”.

How do we find Scott when the movie starts?

A lot has happened to him in recent years. He’s a man who lived a normal life until he committed a Robin Hood crime because he’s a good guy. He went to prison for a few years and then they recruited him to become a superhero. He joined the Avengers, went to the Quantum Realm, and when he came back, he saved the universe. (Avengers: endgame, (2019). This film begins after the events of put an end to me at a time when Scott is able to relax and spend time with his daughter for the first time in many years, and being present in your own life. But it doesn’t take long.

One of the things I like about playing him is that there’s nothing special about it. He has no super powers, he is not the god of thunder, he is not big, green and super strong, nor can he fly. He is an intelligent and intuitive man. It’s very interesting to play a character who doesn’t want to be heroic but is forced to be heroic.

What does it mean to you to play this character?

Scott Lang was very important to me and my life. I had never played a role for a long period of timeso it was a first for me to do it over the course of nearly a decade. I have a very special connection to the character, to the franchise, to the company. I like playing him, which is why I love Scott Lang and Ant-Man.

It’s been almost a decade since I played this character and I’m part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It’s kind of surreal to step back and put things in perspective, as Scott does in the film. It was great to be a part of all of that. I’ve been to many countries where I never would have gone to promote the movies; I have visited many places and met many people. I loved the people I worked with, and that’s the most important thing after all. We spend a lot of time together in these movies.

In civil war (2016), when I first met Captain America and some of the other Avengers, that was the first time I filmed with them in real life. It was almost like we were in a dressing room and we were all putting on our suits. I put on the Ant-Man suit and I look around to see Sebastian Stan put on his silver armor and Chris Evans put on his Captain America suit and Anthony Mackie put on his Falcon suit. Everything seemed unreal. I kind of felt like the character I was playing and even tried to bring some of that into the scene because I was in awe of the superheroes around me. I still feel like Scott has a little bit of that, like saying, “I can’t believe I’m on this team.”

How does it feel to be back on set with people you worked with on the previous Ant-Man movies?

You want to be happy with the people you work with, not just the actors, who are all great, but the entire crew, producers and executives at Marvel. It’s a spectacular group of people I’ve had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with, and I really appreciate that.

It’s really nice to go back and work with the same actors. We all get along very well. I still can’t believe I’m working with Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas. It’s very nice to work with legendary actors, I don’t get used to it. I try to see how privileged and lucky I am to perform with these people.

Peyton Reed, the director, is a great guy. I blindly trust him in terms of what he wants to do with the film, how he sees the scenes, what he thinks. He’s a great employee. Evangeline (Lilly) and I have already worked together on three films, but this one This is my first time working with Kathryn Newton (who plays her daughter Cassey Lang), which I love. It is awesome. she is very talented and he is a very sweet person.

Can you describe the relationship between Scott and Cassie?

That bond was always the most important thing in Scott’s life. They have a very strong relationship and I think there’s a lot of love between those two characters and that’s the central theme of all the movies. It was very interesting to see Kathryn transform into teenage Cassie and play someone who finds her own way, who wants to figure out who she is and maybe run into her dad a little bit. So Scott missed a big part of her life he wants to continue the relationship where he left off and spend time together, live a normal life, and she may have other ideas.

Why should people see this movie on the big screen?

On the one hand, it is an unbeatable experience: going to the cinema is still the most fun. This is also a visually stunning movie and the worlds you are transported to. There are films whose experience, when seen in the cinema, is completely different, enhanced. And I think this is one of those movies.
