While nothing is finalized yet about what will happen in Joker 2, director Todd Phillips revealed a first look at Lady Gaga’s character and captioned his message with “Happy Valentine’s Day,” hinting that the singer may be in love with Joaquin Phoenix in his incarnation of the lurid villain.

Last year, it was confirmed that Lady Gaga would star in the sequel to the 2019 film. Her character would be Harley Quinn, although this was not officially confirmed, according to Spinof.

However, Margot Robbie, who played Harley Quinn in films like “Suicide Squad” and “Birds of Prey,” sent Lady Gaga good luck in the iconic role on MTV News in October 2022.

“It makes me really happy because I’ve said from the beginning that all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, like Macbeth or Batman, they always go from great actor to great actor,” said Robbie.

Lady Gaga becomes Joaquin Phoenix’s romantic partner in Joker 2

‘Joker: Folie à deux’ is not part of the DC Universe that James Gunn and Peter Safran are building and has its own timeline. Safran said this film will “clearly be labeled as DC Elseworlds, just like the comics do.”

Joker 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on October 4, 2024. According to the cinematographer, Lawrence Sher, Gaga will “create a similar kind of magic as Joaquin did in the previous one. The combination of the two will be exactly what we hope for. Hopefully we’ll get a little crazy there too.”

For her part, Lady Gaga has also published the photo in which she appears with Phoenix. In August last year, the actress also reported that she would be part of the star cast of the sequel.

Now Lady Gaga used the phrase “Folie à Deux” (“Foolishness of two” in French), another fact that reveals the magnitude of what both Oscar winners will offer on the big screen.
