Louis Vuitton chooses Pharrell Williams to lead the men’s line

Louis Vuitton announced on Tuesday the hiring of Pharrell Williams to artistically direct their designs of fashion masculine, a popular figure in the industry music who will fill the senior position left vacant after the death of Virgil Abloh, its star designer, more than a year ago.

“Louis Vuitton is delighted to welcome @Pharrell as its new Men’s Creative Director”said the fashion firm in a tweet.

Williams’ first collection for the brand will be shown in June during Paris Men’s Fashion Week, the brand added.

Williams rose to fame in the music world as a producer and singer with hits like “Happy” and “Blurred Lines,” has won 13 Grammy Awards, and was a judge on the popular singing competition “The Voice.”

“Happy,” written for the animated film “Despicable Me 2,” earned Williams one of her two Oscar nominations. His second Oscar nomination came as a producer of the film “Hidden Figures.”

Williams also has extensive experience in the fashion industry. She participated in the rise of streetwear, co-founding the Billionaire Boys Club brand with Japanese designer Nigo in 2003, and launching collaborations with Adidas and luxury brands Moncler and Chanel.

In 2004, he collaborated with Marc Jacobs, a Louis Vuitton designer, on glasses for the brand.
