In the latest mural, he showed a housewife dressed in a 1950s outfit with a black eye and a knocked out tooth, closing a large freezer with a wide smile. Male legs protrude from this one, suggesting that the attacked woman dealt with the torturer who landed in the cooling device. “Valentine mascara” – signed one of the close-ups of the heroine of the painting by its author.

“Combating violence against women. Even on Valentine’s Day. Always!” – added the famous activist in the description on Instagram. Part of his latest art installation was a real, full-sized freezer that was positioned to fit the entire painting.

In addition, there were picturesquely scattered waste: next to the main character, Banksy dropped an old pan and empty bottles of alcohol, and in front of the broken household appliances he placed a broken plastic chair and a blue crate. The photo of the whole thing appeared online on his profile in the morning of February 14.

A few hours after the publication, the Margate City Council decided it was time to take action. Employees of the public sector appeared on the spot, who removed the broken freezer and the rest of the waste in front of the lenses of the gathered photographers. From the entire Banksy installation, only a female silhouette and male legs remain, he reports. The press contacted the relevant office to ask for comment on the denial of the famous artist’s work.

This isn’t the first time Banksy has left his Valentine’s Day painting in public. In 2019, in his hometown of Bristol, he painted a mural of a girl shooting red flowers with a slingshot. In December 2022, he also prepared 50 screen prints for sale – the money obtained in this way is to be transferred to Ukrainians.

Banksy, who has remained anonymous for years, confirmed that he was in a war-torn country in November. He published a recording of this trip, in which he can be seen talking to locals and painting his patterns on random walls in bombed Ukrainian cities and towns. One of the paintings depicts a child in judoga who defeats Vladimir Putin in a duel on the mat.
