Artists who over the years of their careers have worked exclusively on mandate contracts or contracts for specific work cannot count on much support from the Social Insurance Institution. Unfortunately, not everyone agrees to such a fate and bitterly comment on their difficult situation in the media.

The singer receives about PLN 1,670 a month and believes that the amount is too low because it is not enough to meet basic needs. Recently, it has also been loud about the low payments of Krzysztof Cugowski or Alicja Majewska, whose benefits amount to about PLN 1,000.

The president of the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) even spoke some time ago in a case that evokes great emotions. Professor Gertruda Uścińska explained what aspects influenced the determination of the amount of the benefit and admitted that she did not understand the surprise of the artists.

In 2021, the president of ZUS, Professor Gertruda Uścińska, was a guest of the “Money. It counts” program, in which she publicly commented on the complaints of stars dissatisfied with heights. In her opinion, the artists can only blame themselves, because for years they underestimated the issue of paying contributions. — In many cases, freelancers and artists enter into contracts for specific work, which do not give rise to any social insurance obligation. There is a principle of reciprocity, proportionality and adequacy. If we pay little to ZUS, the benefit is also low – Uścińska.

The president of ZUS did not mince words and noticed that some artists completely disregarded the building of pension capital, and yet in the media they portray themselves as victims. She explained how to act in order not to share the mistakes of the stars. — In general, one can say this: you have to pay contributions to build pension capital. There are cases that such people do not have any pension contributions on our account at all, and in public debates they sharply claim that they are without a salary, confessed Professor Gertruda Uścińska.
