Free services for seniors in 2023. They won’t pay a penny for it. Who can benefit?

services are more expensive, and pensioners often experience financial difficulties and are often forced to make difficult choices. Depending on the place of residence and age, many seniors have a chance to take advantage of free services of various kinds, which are real support and help in everyday life. For this reason, it is worth following the information published by Polish municipalities on an ongoing basis.

Free services for seniors. “Golden Hand” available in many cities in Poland

The Handyman program is now available in many cities in . It aims to provide assistance to seniors in minor home repairs that do not require large financial outlays. It is most often used by single people, people with disabilities and running a one-person household. The project is available, among others, to residents of:

  • Gdańska – applies to seniors over 70, and the repair cannot exceed PLN 80 gross (otherwise the older person covers the difference);
  • Gliwice – applies to seniors over 60, and the repair cannot exceed PLN 30 gross (otherwise the older person covers the difference);
  • Warsaw – applies to seniors over 75, and the repair cannot exceed PLN 200 gross (the amount includes the remuneration for a specialist along with travel and materials, the cost of which does not exceed PLN 80).

These are not the only free services for seniors. What is a “Taxi for Seniors”?

“Taxi for Seniors” is a free transport service addressed to people who have difficulties in moving independently by public transport. Free travel within the city or commune is intended to enable the elderly to appear for an appointment at a medical facility or office. The project is available, among others, in:

  • Poznań – applies to seniors who are over 80 years old or aged 70-79, and their disability is visible and prevents them from using free public transport. The service can be used 3 times every six months and no more than once a month;
  • Wrocław – applies to seniors who are over 75 years old. The service can be used twice a month;
  • Kielce – applies to seniors who are over 70 years old. The service can be used 2 times a month and up to 6 times a year;
  • Wołomin – applies to seniors who are over 80 years old. The service can be used twice a month.

Free public transport for seniors. The service will save you a lot

Free rides are defined by resolutions of individual City Councils. They also specify on the basis of which document a senior can use free public transport. The facility is available, among others, to residents of:

  • Gdynia – applies to seniors who are over 70 years old. Communication can be used on the basis of an ID document confirming the age with a photo;
  • Olsztyn – applies to seniors who are over 70 years old. Communication can be used on the basis of an identity card or passport issued by an authorized body of the Republic of Poland, or the Olsztyn City Card issued on the basis of the above-mentioned documents;
  • Lodz – applies to seniors who are over 70 years old. Communication can be used on the basis of an identity card or a “Special Ticket” issued on the basis of an identity document.
