“I hope this day brings closure to you, I have learned a great lesson”: Pablo Lyle is sentenced to five years in prison for manslaughter and with a broken voice apologizes to the victim’s family

Pablo Lyle heard sentence this Friday, February 3 in a Miami court after being accused of involuntary manslaughter after beating Juan Ricardo Hernández, a Cuban in the city of the sun and he died of internal bleeding.

The Mexican actor was sentenced to five years in prison and eight on probation almost four years after that fateful moment. In addition, he took advantage of addressing the victim’s family to apologize after being sentenced, Univision wrote.

Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez, in charge of delivering the verdict, assured that “this is one of the most difficult cases I have had to deal with.”

Tinkler Mendez added that “my motivation is to impose a fair sentence (…). The heart of Mr. Hernandez’s family and Mr. Lyle’s family, so many people have been affected by what happened that day. Mr. Hernández did not deserve to die that day.”

For the lawyer, the magistrate found it important that the actor did not have a criminal record and took his regret into account before charging him.

In addition to the sentence, Lyle will have to take anger management classes and will have to complete 100 hours of community service.

For its part, the defense argued that the actor deserved 15 years in prison, asserting that Lyle never showed remorse and that he tried to justify his attack because he “felt afraid” and that he was trying to protect his family.

However, Lyle, handcuffed and in prison attire, said before sentencing that he could not imagine the pain of someone losing a loved one, especially in a situation like this.

“I hope that this day brings closure to you,” he said, addressing Hernández’s relatives. “I’m sorry,” he said, “I want you to know it from my voice” and indicated that it is the most sincere fault that he has said in his entire life. “I have learned a great and important lesson,” added the actor.

The 36-year-old artist was heading to the Miami International Airport in a vehicle with his wife, Ana Araujo, their two children and his brother-in-law, Lucas Delfino, was driving.

At a red light, the victim, of Cuban origin, got out of his vehicle to angrily recriminate Delfino for a maneuver he had carried out.

In the middle of the discussion, Lyle got out of the car and hit Juan Ricardo Hernández, who, according to the images collected by the security cameras of a nearby gas station, collapsed instantly.

The forensic report indicated that the victim died that afternoon of March 31, 2019 after suffering a hemorrhage in the front and back of the head. (AND)
