In recent years, the attention of Polish listeners and then viewers has been drawn to exceptional works. First, an unusual audio series debuted in the Empik Go application. “Fucking Bornholm”. In an intriguing, funny, engaging way, he told a moving story about a crisis in a relationship and the timeless need for love. The title quickly gained recognition among listeners and received the Empik Bestseller for the Best Audiobook 2020. It was a unique radio show, among others due to the participation of such stars as Magdalena Ró¿czka, Micha³ Czernecki, Leszek Lichota and Olga Kalicka, who created authentic characters.

“Fucking Monterosa” or the continuation of “Fucking Bornholm” only on Empik Go

The audio series became an inspiration for another production. In 2022, the movie “Fucking Bornholm” directed by Anna Kazejak appeared on cinema screens. And he was quite successful. However, the heroes’ adventures did not end there!

They return in the 2nd part of the radio play. The characters known from the first part of the audio series are played by actors known from the film adaptation. “”, because this is the name of the new audio series, is a real feast for the listeners, which consists of six episodes. All of them are available only in the Empik Go application.

In the second part of the audio series, already known heroes return to the action. Maja (Agnieszka Grochowska), Hubert (Maciej Stuhr) and Dawid (Grzegorz Damiecki) remain the main characters. They will be joined by: Klaudia (Ilona Ostrowska) and Krzysiek (Krzysztof Czeczot).

Grzegorz Damięcki on “Fucking Monterosa”: Problems arise where the world does not meet our expectations

How will the heroes cope with the challenges that will appear before them? Grzegorz Damięcki, one of the most important characters in the production, told about it.

Last year we saw you in Anna Kazejak’s hit Fucking Bornholm. Now you return to the role of David, but in a completely different format. How do you feel as the protagonist of the audiobook?

– I must admit that I had doubts… I have bad associations with successive parts of something… CD, film, book. I am a believer in singularity. The curiosity of what will happen next with the heroes I was rooting for won. An audiobook is a completely different artistic challenge. He plays with his own imagination. Be careful, the lack of an image sometimes suggests surprising interpretation solutions. It’s exciting.

What was the hardest thing about switching from the big screen to audio mode?

– The hardest thing was to reject the means that helped in the film and do not help in front of the microphone. A whole lot of things cannot be seen with the eyes, so there is a fear of sound overexpressivity… You have to believe that someone who listens will be able to display this text in their head with my help.

In the first part (because this is how Fucking Bornholm should be treated) we watched a story about two couples who went on a vacation together. Instead of Danish hygge, viewers received a whole avalanche of personal dramas. The title Fucking Monterosa indicates that in the second part we will not find the Italian dolce vita?

– You can experience a nightmare among palm trees, during exotic dances on a yacht or on the Caribbean Islands. You can also get the most beautiful moments from fate in a room with a view of a mine that has been closed for years, flooded with rain until the last day of your stay. A rule is no rule. The feast of joy and other states of the soul are sometimes enchanted in our heads. We talk about it further.

The first episode starts quite optimistically. Klaudia, Dawid’s ex-wife, takes her friend on a winter holiday together. This time not to a cramped trailer, but to a deluxe hotel. Then guys appear on the horizon and the first problems begin…?

– Problems arise where the world does not live up to our expectations. Age or gender doesn’t matter. We are all more or less vulnerable to it.

Fucking Monterosa still lacks communication. In fact, in every episode there is some unexplained, swept under the floor and undiscussed problem. Not only on the line of partners, but also friends. Are today’s 40-year-olds really unable to talk to each other?

– This is everyone’s problem. The whole planet. Our communication got messed up. Peer relations, but also the chances of understanding between the old and the young, the left with the right, women with men. I think that the species Homo sapiens in all its possible configurations is experiencing total disturbances. I don’t think we’ve ever been this far from an agreement. We have communicators in our hands and they have replaced communication for us.

The emergence of the topic of psychotherapy is also interesting. However, it does not occur in the context of a real search for help, but only a rather reluctant fulfillment of a friend’s request. Should we nevertheless treat it as hope and an announcement of some changes, or rather an even greater avalanche of misunderstandings and suffering? What may be the next trips together?

– Psychotherapies, by opening our consciousness, contribute to changes in relation to ourselves and the environment. One has to remember that they can do a lot of good, bring us closer and help us to explain “What are you even talking about…” as Robert Brylewski wrote. But this song by Brygada Kryzys, very wise by the way, has its sequel… I don’t know what will happen to them next. I wish them to rest and get a good night’s sleep.

So it seems that identity problems and crises – not only in relationships – are a timeless topic that Empik Go users still want to hear about. All episodes of the unique series are available in the Empik Go application. Just download or run the application to immerse yourself in one of the best told stories of recent years.
