Bobi is 30 years old, but she still has the energy to move her paws and play with the four cats that live in her home. He has been recognized by the Guinness Record as the oldest dog in the world, at 30 years and 267 days old.

Bobi’s owners, who live with the dog on a farm in Portugal, assure that the dog was born on May 11, 1992 in that same residence. His relatives believe that the secret to his longevity is the nature that surrounds him, a peaceful environment.
Leonel Costa, the owner of the Rafeiro do Alentejo breed dog, hopes that Bobi will still be able to procreate puppies. “She was eight years old,” said Costa, now 38. “My father was a hunter and we always had many dogs.”
“Bobi has been a warrior for all these years, only he knows how he has been holding up, it must not be easy because the average lifespan of a dog is not that high and if he spoke alone he could explain this success,” said Costa.
“We are very happy and grateful to life for allowing us, after 30 years, to have Bobi in our daily lives,” added its owner.
Bobi only had one health issue in 2018, but he pulled through. She currently has some vision and gait problems related to her age. In his old age, Bobi is less adventurous; He has a hard time walking, so he spends most of his time in the backyard with his four feline friends, the Guinness World Record explained.

“We have regular appointments (with the vet) and the exams have always shown that he is fine for his advanced age,” revealed Leonel.
“I never thought of signing up Bobi to set the record because fortunately our animals have always lasted for many years,” said the Portuguese.
Bobi’s 30 years have been verified by SIAC, a pet database authorized by the Portuguese government and managed by the National Union of Veterinarians, since the dog was registered in the Veterinary Medical Service of the Municipality of Leiria in 1992.
The previous holder of the oldest living dog title was Spike, who achieved the record at 23 years and 7 days, as verified in Camden, Ohio on December 7, 2022.
The title of oldest dog in history was previously held by Bluey, an Australian shepherd dog who lived to be 29 years and 5 months before being put to sleep in November 1939.
