From Lola Flores to Lady Di, the most iconic photographs taken by paparazzi

With her eyes forward, her hands together and surrounded by the Civil Guard, Lola Flores was facing a trial for not having declared some 200 million pesetas to the Treasury. A moment that was portrayed thanks to the prying eyes of the paparazzi.

Like this one, others important moments in history of our celebrities will remain forever reflected thanks to the work of photographers. Not a thousand words would be worth to explain this image: Camilo José Cela paragliding.

There are photographs that are landmarks of our most recent past, such as that of Lady Di going topless in Fuengirola. “That photo was one of the most paid in the history of heart journalism in Spain,” explains Bernardo Paz, curator of the ‘Paparazzi’ exhibition.

The work of many paparazzi is also useful to illustrate our story. Although the word paparazzi now has negative connotations, during years celebrities and photographers formed a very well-matched marriage. “The function of the gossip is to show the friendly side of the lives of celebrities,” reveals Bernardo Paz.

This is the only way to understand the confidence of Tita Cervera to pose like this in front of the camera, she was not the only one. The happiness of some moments is candid knowing that later they are over. Moments that can no longer return but that these photographers became eternal. Now, it is possible to enjoy them in the exhibition that has been inaugurated at the Nikon Gallery in Madrid and that will be available until April 7.
