Hogwarts Legacy will become one of the biggest new video games by 2023, critics say. This new open-world role-playing game allows players to enroll in the famous school of witchcraft and wizardry.

At the moment it is the most desired title on the platform Steam ($59.99). The release date is set for Friday, February 10, for PS5, Xbox Series X and PC. There is an early access period that started this Tuesday, February 7 for exclusive customers.
From pre-Columbian times to the screen: the video game ‘Mahu’ seeks to preserve and promote Ecuadorian culture
Hogwarts Legacy’s popularity stems from the fact that the game seems to deliver adventures Harry Potter fans have always wanted to experience. players start creating a custom character, they can join a House and role-play as a Hogwarts student: attend classes, make friends, learn spells and much more.
According to a review from the Games Radar portal, the game complies with an impressive recreation of iconic locations from the film franchise which adapts the work of J. K Rowling, such as the Hogwarts and Hogsmeade School. “With fun combat and a vast open world, Hogwarts Legacy is an excellent first attempt that tries to do too much at once.”
CNET reviewer Sean Keane played the PS5 version, writing in a more positive review that it “captures the wonder of the early books, with an intriguing original narrative, engagingly varied gameplay, and an intricately designed world to explore.”

First trans character from the magical world of Harry Potter
Another aspect that caught the attention of the game is the introduction of a transgender character. Hogwarts Legacy introduces Sirona Ryan, a witch who acts as the owner of the Three Broomsticks in the town of Hogsmeade.
The player interacts with Sirona during a quest involving a goblin named Lodgok. While the character is not explicitly stated to be trans in the context of the game, Sirona does offer a line of dialogue that is very suggestive.
“I have known Lodgok for years. We met when he was a student here as a waiter, long before he bought the place,” says Sirona. “He was quite cordial, but we weren’t friends then. His mistrust of wizards ran deep…he hadn’t seen him in years when he arrived a few months ago. But he recognized me instantly. Which is more than I can say for some of my own classmates. It took them a second to realize that I was actually a witch, not a wizard.”
This incorporation into the magical world of Harry Potter has given something to talk about due to the ongoing controversies surrounding Rowling’s statements, author of the literary saga, about trans people.
Although the release date is fast approaching, the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch releases have been pushed back to later this year. (AND)
