This year’s Grammys ceremony, which took place on February 5, 2023, turned out to be a breakthrough in many respects – for the first time in the pop / duet category, the award was given to a transgender woman Kim Petras, and in the category “Album of the Year” a Spanish-language album was nominated for the first time – “Un Verano Sin Ti by Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny. Although the songs from it did not leave the top of the charts during the summer, Beyoncé was mentioned as the favorite. The statuette was finally given to Harry Styles.
They clearly expressed their dissatisfaction
Not everyone agrees with the jury’s verdict. In their opinion, it is “Renaissance” – Beyoncé’s seventh studio album released in 2022, beginning the announced trilogy, that should be awarded. However, the Grammy went to the album “Harry’s House”. A recording was posted on social media in which the audience expressed their dissatisfaction during the laureate’s speech. Internet users are of the opinion that you can hear cries of “get off the stage” and “Beyoncé should win.”

Not only is this distasteful to Harry, it’s much more awkward to Beyoncé. You have to grow up.
What disgusting behavior. People like that shouldn’t be allowed on the show.
– commented Twitter users. Harry Styles did not comment on the sad situation, but when asked about winning with Beyoncé, he said that he felt as surprised as the audience and its fans. He also added that every artist who was nominated in this category influenced him in some way. Recall that the musician competed m. with ABBA, Adele, Kendrick Lamar and Coldplay.
Why such a decision? There can be many reasons
Music critics from the magazine “Vulture” believe that although “Renaissance” is a successful return of the artist (the previous album, “Lemonade”, was released in 2016) and again a milestone in the history of black music, the album “is not in the style” of the Academy. In their opinion, Styles’ aesthetics and musical references to previous eras better suit the tastes of the jurors. What’s more, Harry starred in several cinema productions, which contributed to the growth of media interest not only in his person, but also in popularizing his work. Beyoncé, however, avoided media publicity, did not give interviews, and announced her concert tour after a long break shortly before the Grammys gala. She also did not promote the album with music videos, recognizing that she wanted to give fans “the opportunity to be unlimited in their expansive sonic journey”, while the visuals would be “distractions” and impose some interpretation.
AVANTI24 OFFERS:
Beyoncé made Grammys history anyway. She received four more statuettes, thanks to which she won a total of 32 golden gramophones, surpassing the current record holder – conductor Georg Solti (31 Grammys). Thus, she is not only the most awarded woman in the history of these awards, but also the artist with the best overall result.
