Quito group Tonicamo presents its new album: ‘Bysa’

From the capital, and made up of Pablo Dávila (guitar, lead vocals), Julián Baquerizo (guitar, vocals, synthesizers) and Víctor Hugo Moya (synthesizers and live sequences), comes the band tonicamo (@somostonicamo), who at the time identified themselves as exponents of gay pop, but who have been experimenting with various experimental nuances in which a clear base of synth pop.

The conception of this third studio work began during the confinement, when Ernesto Torres (who was also the band’s guitarist) sent guides and demos to Pablo Dávila, who was looking for new sounds, and which finally fit into a new identity.

Available since last Friday on all digital distribution platforms, Bysa was recorded and mixed by Filo Music, while the mastering It was the work of Juan Pablo Rivas. Composed of nine songs and lasting approximately thirty-four minutes, a predominant voice is perceived that at times stands out more than expected. It could have been a little more at the level of the band, although it doesn’t deviate from the concept.

In addition, the synthesizers and melodies keep the listener in suspense and could easily set scenes from a horror film, carrying an interesting common thread that even plays with a viral voice note on Ecuadorian social networks; I’m talking about the topic My mawhich manages to adapt to the enveloping keyboards that, far from looking for a hitThey look for a sense of humor, something for which they have been characterized during the more than ten years of experience they have.

As mentioned, Tonicamo has always sought to be framed in the minds and ears of his followers; For this reason, her work goes beyond composing songs and publishing them.
