One of the simplest home remedies for fern care and nutrition are tea or coffee grounds. Such an infusion will be perfect for watering. You can use, for example, already brewed coffee grounds, but remember to use those without sugar or milk. Black tea works best, but you can also use herbal infusions of nettle, sage, chamomile or horsetail.

  • Pour a tablespoon of coffee grounds into a glass of hot water and set aside to brew.
  • Pour hot water over a tea bag or two and let it brew.

Water the cooled infusion on the ferns, but also on the peace lily, anthurium or other potted plants that prefer an acidic or neutral pH of the substrate. You can also sprinkle dried grounds on top of the ground, but remember to mix them with the first layer of the substrate. Otherwise, it may lead to mold formation. Use this home remedy once a month.

Another way to nourish the fern and provide it with the necessary nutrients is … water after cooking vegetables. Remember, however, that it cannot be seasoned with salt! Depending on the type of vegetables, such a decoction includes, among others: potassium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, starch, calcium, fiber and vitamins from group A, B and E. After cooking, drain the water and leave to cool, then water the potted plants. For this purpose, you can also use water after rinsing rice, and even rinsing fruits and vegetables.
