Jake Gyllenhaal and the story of the song ‘All too well’ (Taylor’s version)

Singer Taylor Swift’s re-recording of RED’s album reminds fans of her romance with the actor, which inspired the now 10-minute track.

“Here’s a sad song about fall”commented the American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift during his presentation at Tiny Desk Concert (2019) before sitting down to sing on piano, he already capelled his success All too well, track originally released in 2012 and which collects painful lines about a breakup and nostalgia after separation from the female perspective.

For the 31-year-old artist All too well it’s a song that has two lives: the first, when she wrote it and thought it would be a composition that only she would love (it was not even promoted individually); and the second, the life that its fans gave to the song after its release, turning it into the anthem of catharsis after any loving farewell.

This Friday 12th of November, the song will begin a third stage when the disc is revealed RED (Taylor’s version) with 30 songs in total (14 songs more than the original album), which includes All too well, which will now last ten minutes. The launch also comes accompanied by a short film, starring the actress Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) and Dylan O’Brien (The Maze Runner).

Beyond the details and surprises that the new audiovisual (directed by Swift) brings, the true story that, according to his followers, gave rise to the song is found in the relationship that the singer had with actor Jake Gyllenhaal between October and December 2010.

This romance included incredible displays of affection such as when, as reported The Sun, Gyllenhaal spent $ 165,000 to charter a private jet for Taylor to fly from the US to the UK where he was and thus spend a few hours together; and also Big disappointments like when he didn’t show up at Swift’s birthday party that December 2010, a moment that the singer recounts in the song The moment I knew.

What is your response

when tears run down your face

in front of everyone you know?

And what do you do when the only one

and who means everything to you

was he who did not show up?

By before New Years, it is rumored that Gyllenhall ended up with her telling her that ‘things weren’t working out’.

The mysterious scarf

For years, Swift’s followers have deciphered every phrase of All too well, confirming that he talks about his relationship with Gyllenhall. Months ago they also commented massively a video posted by the actor on Instagram where he appears with glasses with a phrase taken from the song: ‘You used to be a little kid with glasses in a twin-sized bed’.

Likewise, they do not stop asking you about the scarf that Taylor allegedly left at the home of her sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal, also due to another fragment of the lyrics: ‘And I, left my scarf there at your sister’s house. And you’ve still got it in your drawer even now ‘.

Will the short film of the song offer more vivid scenes than imagined by his followers from the song? Few hours left to find out. (E)
