Joanna and Jolanta ¯ó³kowski were inseparable as children. After that, they performed together only twice

The Żółkowski sisters were born in Siedlce – Joanna in March 1950 and Jolanta in March 1955. They also had a brother who, unlike his sisters, did not choose acting. As children, the women were inseparable. Jolanta once said that Joanna “loved changing her clothes and combing her hair”. Then she gave her parts in plays organized at home. How did the fate of the sisters turn out later?

Joanna Żółkowska always knew she wanted to be an actress. She was not lucky in love

Already in her youth, Joanna was a member of the Podlasie team and was involved in poetic poetry organized by a Polish philologist. She got into the PWST in Warsaw, and right after graduation she left for Krakow. There she received the role of Zośka in “Dziady” by Swinarski. She returned to Warsaw, thanks to the encouragement of Zygmunt Hübner, joining the Powszechny Theatre. She played in it later for 40 years.

Joanna became famous not only for her unforgettable theatrical roles. In 1972, she appeared on the screen for the first time, playing the role of Aga in the film “Szklana Kula”. She was also remembered by the viewers thanks to her participation in productions such as “Controlled Conversations”, “Let’s Make a Grandson”, “Night Conversations”, and above all the role of Anna Surmacz-Koziełło in “Klan”, which she has been playing since 1997. Although, as she admitted, “she was successful in her profession, it was more difficult in male-female matters”. In one of the interviews, she stated that “all the qualities she values in herself are not conducive to relationships.” – I am self-centered, and a man likes a woman to be his, to sacrifice, to live his life, to be a support. Unfortunately, I’ve never been like that. In the 1970s, the actress met Witold Holtz, with whom she had a daughter, Paulina, in 1977. However, the relationship broke up, and later Joanna became involved with Krzysztof Pieczyński. For several years, the couple performed together on stage, but eventually the actors parted. Then, for many years, her partner was Robert Gliński, who admitted that he noticed Joanna’s “talent, focus and sense of humor”. This relationship also broke up, but the couple is still said to be on friendly terms.

Jolanta Żółkowska followed in her sister’s footsteps. However, viewers remembered her from one role

Jolanta followed in her sister’s footsteps, although she probably did not have an easy start, being compared to the older Joanna. At the age of 21, Jolanta appeared in the film “Camouflage”. She gained popularity four years later, when she played the role of Basia Lawinówna in the series “Dom”. In 2000, Joanna also joined the cast as Żmudowa, Majka’s mother. Although Jolanta gained recognition and recognition, unfortunately, she failed to repeat this success in subsequent productions. She performed on the stage of the National Theater or the Comedy Theater and received episodic roles in productions such as “Na Wspólnej”, “M jak miłość” or “Nanny”.

The series “Home” brought her not only popularity, but also love. On the set, she met Krzysztof Kołbasiuk. He played her beloved, who was lost in the Warsaw Uprising, but was finally found. As it turned out, the feeling also connected them off-screen. Five years older, the actor left his wife at the time and became involved with Jolanta. They got married and their son Kamil was born. Jolanta recalled that the relationship with Kołbasiuk “was a great feeling and passion.” They left for Sweden for a few years because they were unable to make a living from acting. Then they decided to return to Poland and play. In 2006, an unexpected tragedy occurred. Krzysztof had a massive heart attack and died on March 3. Jolanta took her husband’s death very hard. Years later, she confessed that “it’s hard to come to terms with such a tragedy, but I don’t feel sorry for fate.”

What is the relationship of the Żółkowski sisters like now? Little is known about them

Although they were inseparable as children, over the years they performed together only twice, in the TV series “Dom” and in the Syrena Theater in the play “Stalowe magnolias”. Jolanta was even once asked if she played with her sister or niece, who also became an actress. – NO. Each of us performs individually. He cultivates his own plot. My sister and I met at the Syrena Theater in the play “Steel magnolias”. There we played together, although we only really had one scene during the performance – she admitted. Rumors have been circulating in the media for years that the sisters’ relationship was cool, but none of them has ever confirmed these rumors.
