She lost her hearing as an 18-year-old, and she has been singing since childhood. Years later, she delighted in “Mam Talent”

The power of passion is sometimes stronger than adversity. This was proved by the story of the deaf singer Mandy Harvey, who decided not to give up her love for music. Today he writes his own songs. Her original composition moved the viewers of this year’s edition of “America’s Got Talent: All Stars”.

Harvey was loud in 2017, when she decided to take part in the 12th season of America’s Got Talent. She did not win (then the victory went to ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer), but she reached the finals, taking a high fourth place. At the casting, she performed her own song, “Try”, which she played on the ukulele. Moved by the performance, Simon Cowell rewarded her with a golden button, guaranteeing an immediate promotion to the next stage of the program.

Not only the song moved the judges, but also Mandy’s story. She is deaf – she lost her hearing in 2006-2007 at the age of 18 due to a connective tissue disease. It was particularly painful for her, because her greatest passion was singing – she started as a four-year-old, and finally completed her vocal education at Colorado State University. Although she tried her hand as a teacher, she decided to return to music thanks to the support of friends and family. As a composer, she has won many significant awards, e.g. VSA Top Young Soloist Award and released three albums.

Years later, she returned to the show

35-year-old Mandy returned to American television in the best and most interesting participants of the previous editions of “All Stars”. This time she also performed her own song – “Something I Can Feel”. At the same time she translated the text of the song into sign language.

The judges gave Harvey a standing ovation, and the audience was clearly moved by the performance. The artist herself did not hide her emotions.
